BRIGHT WAVE

– Anne Frank

“No one has ever become poor from giving.”

What is the Bright Wave?

In the light of our 5th anniversary, we decided to create a new initiative called Bright Wave.

Our mission is to spotlight and support a non-profit organization, addressing their
immediate requirements such as volunteer recruitment, material
acquisition, enhanced visibility, financial support, and more.

We believe in the power of giving back and making a positive impact
in the world. Therefore, 3% of our net income will be donated to a
different organization each year.

Bright Wave 2025: Supporting Our Stopgap

In 2025, Bright Wave is proud to support Our Stopgap—a collective initiative created by individuals working across international development, peacebuilding, humanitarian response, and climate action. This community-driven response emerged in the wake of sudden, large-scale shifts in the global aid and peacebuilding ecosystem. As programs are halted, funding is redirected, and thousands of dedicated professionals face job losses or rapid transformations in their roles, Our Stopgap offers something essential: a pause, a space, a bridge.

Why Stopgap?

Our Stopgap exists to meet the real and immediate needs of practitioners navigating this moment of systemic upheaval. It recognizes the importance of emotional and professional support during times of uncertainty—and creates structures of care and solidarity for those affected.

What Our Stopgap Offers

  • Mutual Aid Fund: A transparent emergency fund supporting those affected by job loss or precarious working conditions—covering urgent needs like rent, food, and program continuity.
  • Peer Support Groups: Small, facilitated groups that ran from March–May 2025, with potential for future sessions. These trusted circles offer space for reflection, decision-making, and mutual encouragement.
  • Resources and Recommendations: A growing hub of tools to help navigate this transition—financial support, job search resources, mental health guidance, and more. Contributions are welcome.
  • Funding Information Hub: A central collection of insights about funding trends, structural shifts, and survival strategies—whether you’re staying, leaving, or reshaping your role in the sector.
  • Fundraising Peer Training: From April to May 2025, Stopgap piloted a peer-led fundraising course in Spanish for small organizations. More sessions in Spanish, French, and English may be offered—based on community needs.

Why Brightside Supports Stopgap

At Brightside, we believe change begins with care. Our Stopgap is more than a temporary solution—it’s a collective act of resilience, imagination, and support. By backing this initiative, Bright Wave contributes to a shared vision: one where aid professionals are not only valued, but empowered to shape the future of their fields with honesty and solidarity.
